Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 29

Hall’s Family Restaurant, a local icon in the food and beverage industry, hosted a special luncheon on Wednesday, August 28th, at 108 N. Railroad Avenue. Several dignitaries were among the invited guests, along with close friends, and family members. Ray Hall, the restaurant’s owner, used this occasion on the 50th Anniversary of his retirement from the United States Air Force, to make an announcement.

After 22 years of business, the restaurant will soon be sold. Mr. Hall and his son, Steve, cited health problems due to aging as the reason for the sale of their business. Mr. Hall promised that the restaurant would remain open until a suitable buyer can be found.  As he thanked his guests for coming, Mr. Hall marked this momentous occasion by donating $5,000 “to help feed the less fortunate, those that are no longer able to come in for their meals.” His donation was split between the Modern Maturity Center (MMC) in Dover and Harvest Years Senior Center (HYSC) in Camden. Checks were presented to President Carolyn Fredericks (MMC) and Executive Director Tom Bones (HYSC).

Presentations and greetings were shared by Representative Lyndon Yearick, Dover Mayor Robin R. Christiansen, Paul Davis – A Representative of the Vietnam Veterans, Wyoming Mayor Frankie Dale Rife, Camden Councilman Larry Dougherty, Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce President Judy Diogo, and Rev. Lewis Bowers, Sr.   When asked what Ray Hall would do with his newly found free time, he simply said, “I’ll probably just come to the restaurant to see my friends!” Please join us in congratulating the Hall Family for their 22 years of service to the community – and particularly, Mr. Ray Hall for his service in the United States Air Force which began 50 years ago.
