The Black Coaches Association announced on April 23 that Daniel Stockdale, head coach of Delaware State University’s women’s softball team, has been selected as one of the Top 10 Black Head Coaches in NCAA Division I Softball.
This recognition highlights the importance of representation and leadership within collegiate sports. The association emphasized that earning a .500 or better record in Division I softball is a significant achievement and noted the impact these coaches have on their programs.
“The Black Coaches Association proudly celebrates the Top 10 Black Head Coaches in NCAA Division I Softball,” the organization said. “In a sport where representation is limited, this moment means more.”
The association also addressed broader themes beyond athletic success. “These coaches are not just competing, they are leading, building, and sustaining programs with winning records at the highest level,” it said. “This is bigger than wins and losses. This is visibility. This is opportunity. This is progress.” The statement continued: “At BCA, we recognize the impact, the resilience, and the excellence it takes to thrive in spaces where there are so few. We see you. We celebrate you. We stand with you.”
The announcement called attention to qualities such as winning records, elite leadership, and meaningful representation within college athletics.
The association concluded its message by encouraging support for these coaches: “Show these coaches some well-deserved love!”
