On Monday, February 23, the Delaware Department of Transportation announced upcoming multi-lane closures and rolling roadblocks on Interstate 95 and Route 896 for bridge inspection and related work.
The planned closures are expected to impact both northbound and southbound lanes near the I-95/Route 896 interchange. The department said these measures are necessary to facilitate ongoing bridge inspections and maintenance activities.
According to the announcement, there will be an overnight multi-lane closure on northbound I-95 from the Route 896 Interchange to the Welcome Center between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Monday. Additionally, a daytime multi-lane rolling lane closure is scheduled for southbound I-95 from the Welcome Center to the Route 896 Interchange between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Monday, with Tuesday as a backup date if needed.
Rolling roadblocks will also occur on northbound Route 896 and the northbound Route 896 on-ramp to northbound I-95 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday nights if required. The department said that there will be no impacts to Route 72 during this period.
