Delaware Department of Transportation announces I-95 and Route 896 closures in March

The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced upcoming lane and ramp closures on northbound Interstate 95 and Route 896 for bridge work and truck access.

The scheduled closures are set to take place from Monday, March 2 through Thursday, March 5. The department said these measures are necessary to facilitate ongoing construction at the I-95/Route 896 interchange.

According to the Delaware Department of Transportation, daytime lane closures will occur on northbound I-95 from Route 896 to the Welcome Center between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from March 2 through March 5. On Thursday, March 5, there will be an overnight multi-lane closure on northbound I-95 in the same area from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., as well as rolling roadblocks on northbound Route 896 and the northbound Route 896 ramp onto northbound I-95 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

No impacts are expected for Route 72 during this period, according to the department’s announcement.
