On Monday, February 23, the Delaware Department of Transportation announced upcoming multi-lane closures and rolling roadblocks on Interstate 95 and Route 896 in New Castle County for bridge inspection and related work.
The department said these closures are necessary to facilitate ongoing maintenance and ensure the safety of motorists. The planned activities include a daytime multi-lane closure on southbound I-95 for bridge inspection, an overnight multi-lane closure on northbound I-95 for bridge work, and overnight rolling roadblocks on northbound Rt 896 as well as the northbound Rt 896 on-ramp to northbound I-95. These measures may extend into Tuesday, February 24 if needed.
According to the Delaware Department of Transportation, “Monday, February 23rd: Overnight Multi-lane Closure, Northbound I-95 from Rt 896 Interchange to the Welcome Center. (7PM – 5AM) (…) Monday, February 23rd: Daytime Multi-lane Rolling Lane Closure, Southbound I-95 from the Welcome Center to the Rt 896 Interchange (10AM – 11AM) (…) Monday, February 23rd and Tuesday, February 24th (if needed): Rolling Roadblocks, Northbound Rt 896 and Northbound Rt 896 on ramp to Northbound I-95. (11PM – 5AM)” according to DelDOT.
