The Delaware Department of Transportation announced on March 16 that there will be intermittent lane closures on State Route 299 between Front Street and Old Corbitt Road in New Castle County. The closures are scheduled to begin Monday, March 23 and continue through Friday, April 3, occurring Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting.

The department said the lane closures are necessary to allow for drilling related to soil testing in the area. Motorists traveling through this section of SR 299 should expect minor delays during these times.

“Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones and to expect minor delays while traveling in the area,” the Delaware Department of Transportation said.

The department encourages drivers to remain alert and exercise caution when passing through active work zones. For additional details about this project or other transportation updates, residents can visit DelDOT’s website at www.deldot.gov, according to the official roster page.
