The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles is implementing new security screening protocols at all DMV locations this week, according to a statement from the agency.

The updated measures require customers to pass through weapons detector systems staffed by private security when entering any DMV facility. Changes are also being made to how customers enter and exit the buildings. Law enforcement will continue to be present at each location.

Secretary of Transportation Shanté Hastings said, “The Delaware DMV processes nearly one million transactions annually, and we appreciate the public’s patience as we enhance security at our facilities statewide.”

In addition to the new security procedures, the Wilmington DMV now operates by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 302-744-2500 for those without internet access. The Delaware City, Dover, and Georgetown DMV locations will continue to offer walk-in service.

More information about these changes is available on the official roster page.
