The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is set to implement safety improvements on State Route 1 between Broadkill River and Red Fox Lane in Sussex County. Starting Monday, October 27, 2025, DelDOT will install new pavement markings and signs to reconfigure crossovers along this corridor.

This reconfiguration aims to enhance safety by reducing conflict points. As part of the changes, motorists from Hudson Road, Eagle Crest Road, Oyster Rock Road, and Steamboat Landing Road will be required to turn right onto SR 1. However, left turns for northbound and southbound traffic at these intersections will still be allowed. Additionally, certain crossovers will be designated for authorized users only, such as First Responders.

During the implementation phase, drivers should anticipate delays due to lane closures and are advised to exercise caution around construction zones. For further details on the project, individuals can visit DelDOT’s website at www.deldot.gov or listen to updates on WTMC-AM 1380.
