The University of Delaware men’s basketball program announced on April 28 that transfer Steven Solano has joined the roster for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Martin Ingelsby said Solano will become part of the Fightin’ Blue Hens after playing two seasons at Saint Joseph’s.
Solano, a 7-foot center, appeared in 14 games with the Hawks, averaging nearly six minutes, just over two points, and two rebounds per game during his time there. Ingelsby said, “We are excited to welcome Steven to our Blue Hen basketball family. He will provide an interior presence on both sides of the ball and is a perfect fit in our system and our league. Welcome to Newark, Steven!”
Solano will be Delaware’s first seven-footer since Matt Hewson played during the 2006-07 season. Before attending Saint Joseph’s, Solano was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American in 2024 and was rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals.com out of La Lumiere School in Indiana.
He also competed with Expressions Elite AAU team and represented the Dominican Republic at both the FIBA U17 World Cup and FIBA U16 Americas Championship. In EYBL Scholastic League play, he ranked fifth in rebounding with seven per game and thirteenth in blocked shots at just over one per contest.
The addition of Solano brings size and experience to Delaware’s lineup as they prepare for upcoming seasons.
