The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced on May 1 that the 2026 MEAC Softball Championship will begin on May 6 in Norfolk, Virginia. The tournament will run for four days at TowneBank Softball Field, located on the campus of Norfolk State University, with the championship game scheduled for noon on Saturday, May 9 and broadcast live on ESPN+.

The event marks a significant moment for participating teams as they compete for the conference title and an opportunity to showcase their skills at a high level. The tournament features opening-round games at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6.

According to the MEAC’s announcement, No. 4 seed Norfolk State Spartans will face No. 5 Morgan State in the first game at 11 a.m., followed by No. 3 South Carolina State Bulldogs against No. 6 Coppin State at 2 p.m. Howard University enters as the top seed and will play its first game at 5 p.m., facing the winner of Norfolk State versus Morgan State.

Delaware State, seeded second in this year’s tournament, is set to play during the late-night matchup at approximately 8 p.m., where it will meet either South Carolina State or Coppin State based on earlier results.

Tournament action continues Thursday with three games: two elimination contests from the consolation bracket are scheduled for late morning and mid-afternoon, while a winner’s bracket matchup takes place in the evening to determine one finalist for Saturday’s championship round. Friday’s schedule includes two more elimination games leading up to Saturday’s final showdown between an unbeaten team and its challenger.
