Six student-athletes from Delaware Technical Community College’s softball team were recognized on April 19 during a Sophomore Day ceremony before a home double-header at the Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown. The event, originally planned for outdoors, was moved inside to the gym due to inclement weather.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements and future plans of Kiersten Anderson, Madison Fox, Maggie Hubbard, Gabrielle Pepper, Cheyenne Silves, and Brooke Widdoes. Each player was escorted into the gym by family and friends while their favorite memories and aspirations were shared with those in attendance. Dr. Bobbi Barends, College Vice President and Owens Campus Director, presented each athlete with a personalized poster.

Following the recognition event, Delaware Tech’s softball team won both games against County College of Morris in five-inning matches with scores of 17-1 and 17-0.

The annual Sophomore Day is an opportunity for the college community to acknowledge student-athletes’ contributions both on and off the field as they prepare for graduation or continued studies.

Photos from the event are available online for those interested in viewing highlights from this year’s celebration.
