The Delaware Department of Transportation announced on March 27 upcoming daytime and overnight lane closures on Interstate 95 and State Route 896 in New Castle County.
According to the department, northbound I-95 will have daytime lane closures from the Route 896 interchange to the Welcome Center from Monday, March 30 through Thursday, April 2 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The southbound I-95 off ramp to southbound Route 896 will also be closed overnight on Monday, March 30 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
On southbound Route 896, there will be daytime lane closures from West Chestnut Hill Road to the I-95 interchange as well as turn lane closures at the Welsh Tract Road intersection from Monday, March 30 through Thursday, April 2 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Overnight lane closures are scheduled for both directions of Route 896 from the I-95 interchange to Glasgow High School on Monday, March 30 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., along with overnight turn lane closures at the intersection of Route 896 and Old Baltimore Pike during those same hours.
The department said these closures are necessary for truck access as well as milling and paving operations related to ongoing improvements in the area.
