The Delaware Department of Transportation announced a new traffic pattern for northbound Interstate 95 in New Castle County, scheduled to begin the evening of April 26 and continue into the morning of April 27.

According to the department, motorists will experience several phased lane closures and detours during this period. Starting at 4:00 p.m., Exit 5A (I-95 northbound to Airport Road) will be closed and detoured via Exit 5B. At the same time, there will be a single right lane closure on I-95 northbound at State Route 1.

Further reductions are planned throughout the evening. At 6:00 p.m., I-95 northbound will be reduced to three through lanes. By 9:00 p.m., only two through lanes will remain open, and by 10:00 p.m., traffic will be limited to one through lane from State Route 1 to Airport Road Exit 5A.

All lanes and ramps, including Airport Road Exit 5A, are expected to reopen by 5:00 a.m. Motorists are advised to use caution and expect minor delays in the area during these changes.

For additional information about the new traffic pattern or updates on road conditions, motorists can visit the Delaware Department of Transportation website or download the DelDOT app as noted in the organization’s press release.
