The Delaware Department of Transportation announced on March 16 that there will be overnight road, ramp, and lane closures on Route 896 in New Castle County during the week of March 23 to implement final traffic pattern changes. All work is weather permitting.

These closures are part of efforts to finalize new traffic patterns along this section of Route 896. The department said the changes are necessary to complete ongoing improvements and ensure safe travel for motorists.

According to the announcement, northbound Route 896 will be closed overnight between Old Baltimore Pike and Welsh Tract Road on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24. The northbound Route 896 on-ramp to northbound Interstate 95 will also be closed overnight on these days. Detours will be posted for affected drivers.

On Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26, southbound Route 896 will experience overnight lane closures between Welsh Tract Road and Old Baltimore Pike as crews implement the final southbound traffic pattern.

The department emphasized that all scheduled work is subject to weather conditions. Additional information about these closures can be found according to the official roster page.
