The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced upcoming overnight lane closures in New Castle County. These closures are part of ongoing work at the I-95/Rt 896 interchange, including barrier reflector installation and shoulder paving.
On Monday, July 21st, southbound I-95 will experience overnight lane closures from the Welcome Center onto the Rt 896 off-ramp to southbound Rt 896 between 10 PM and 5 AM. Additionally, the ramp narrows for traffic from I-95 southbound onto the northbound Rt 896 off-ramp during the same hours.
Further closures are scheduled for Wednesday, July 23rd, and Thursday, July 24th. During these days, there will be an overnight lane closure on southbound I-95 from the Welcome Center to the Rt 72 overpass between 7 PM and 5 AM.
For Route 896, overnight lane closures will occur northbound between the I-95 interchange and Welsh Tract Road from Sunday, July 20th through Thursday, July 24th. On Sunday, July 20th, these closures will take place from 11 PM to 5 AM. From Monday through Thursday, they will occur from 10 PM to 5 AM.
Route 72 will also see overnight lane closures in both directions between Old Baltimore Pike and Blue Hen Drive from Sunday, July 20th through Thursday, July 24th. On Sunday, these closures are scheduled from 2 PM to 7 AM. From Monday through Thursday, they will occur between 7 PM and 6 AM.
