The University of Delaware announced on May 7 that two women’s golf team members, junior Mary Grace Dunigan and freshman Rhianna Gooneratne, have been named to the All-Conference USA (CUSA) Third Team. The selections were made by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
These honors highlight the achievements of both athletes during Delaware’s first season as a member of Conference USA. Dunigan completed the season with a 74.70 stroke average over all 11 tournaments and 33 team rounds, leading the Blue Hens with ten rounds at even or under par and tying for three top-10 finishes. She also played a key role in helping Delaware secure second place at the Badger Invitational, where she tied for third individually with a seven-under-par score of 209—matching the third-best 54-hole gross score in program history.
Gooneratne had an impressive debut collegiate season, leading her team with a stroke average of 74.67 across 27 rounds—the second-best freshman average in school history. She also tied with Dunigan for three top-10 finishes and recorded eight rounds at even or under par. Her runner-up finish at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational helped Delaware win its home event for a second consecutive year.
The Blue Hens finished their inaugural CUSA campaign by placing second at the conference championship tournament. Over the course of the season, they won two team titles—defending their title at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational and winning The Nashville Invitational—and achieved three additional runner-up finishes among seven total top-five placements.
