The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced the commencement of Phase 2 of the East Camden Bypass project. This phase is set to begin on Monday, July 21, 2025, depending on weather conditions. The construction will involve significant work on Rising Sun Road and continued utility relocations as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.

As part of this phase, Rising Sun Road will be closed from SR 10 (West Lebanon Road) to south of Sandy Hill Trail. Cataldi Lane will also be permanently closed at Rising Sun Road, and motorists will no longer have access to Rising Sun Road from Cataldi Lane. Instead, they are advised to use the newly constructed section of Willow Grove Road and Cataldi Way for future access.

This closure is necessary for the contractor to build a portion of a new roundabout that will connect Willow Grove Road to Rising Sun Road. Additionally, there will be replacement work on a section of Kent County sewer infrastructure near Sandy Hill Trail.

For detour information, motorists traveling from the west should use SR 10 (West Lebanon Road) to South Old Mill Road and then make a right onto South Old Mill Road to reconnect with Rising Sun Road. Those traveling from the east should turn right onto South Old Mill Road to SR 10 (West Lebanon Road), then make a left onto SR 10.
