FACE Honorary President Torbjörn Larsson received a distinguished award on April 18 at the 72nd General Assembly of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) in Vienna. The recognition was presented by Dr. Philipp Harmer, President of the CIC, acknowledging Larsson’s long-standing contribution to hunting, conservation, and international collaboration across Europe and beyond.
The event highlighted the ongoing cooperation between FACE and CIC, which both organizations say has played an important role in strengthening the voice of hunters and conservationists internationally. Dr. Harmer said that constructive dialogue—even when accompanied by lively debate—has been essential to this partnership.
During the ceremony, Larsson also presented Dr. Harmer with the FACE Diana Award as a sign of appreciation for their continued collaboration and his commitment to reinforcing ties between FACE and CIC. Both leaders said that while discussions have often been robust, they are always motivated by a shared goal: promoting a strong future for hunting and conservation.
The assembly gathered more than 650 participants from around the world under the theme “Wildlife Economy,” including ministers, ambassadors, policymakers, scientists, and conservation leaders. The focus was on how hunting and wildlife management can support biodiversity, sustainable land use, and rural development through contributions from stakeholders representing Europe, Africa, North America, and Asia.
FACE Secretary General Dr. David Scallan took part in discussions about the global wildlife economy during the event’s program. He focused on highlighting economic, social, and conservation values of hunting within Europe.
Both organizations indicated their intention to continue working together closely in coming years.
