The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced the commencement of a bridge painting project on the Front Street Bridge over the Nanticoke River in Seaford. The work is scheduled to start on January 15, 2026, and continue through early April as part of a statewide initiative.

During this period, cleaning and painting operations will necessitate a full detour of Front Street. The bridge will be open for permissible operations from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., while pedestrian access will remain available at all times.

Southbound motorists are advised to follow a detour by turning left onto Middleford Road, right onto US-13 Sussex Highway, then right onto Concord Road to return to Front Street. Northbound drivers should turn right onto Concord Road, left onto US-13 Sussex Highway, and then left onto Middleford Road to reach their destination.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution within the work zone and anticipate minor travel delays. Further details can be found on DelDOT’s website or by tuning into WTMC-AM 1380.
