The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on May 7 that a full southbound closure will take place on Colorado Highway 157 (Foothills Parkway) between Valmont Road and Pearl Street this weekend. The closure is part of ongoing concrete rehabilitation work being carried out by ACME Concrete Paving Inc.

The closure is intended to maintain safety for both motorists and the project team, while also minimizing disruptions to weekday commuters. Southbound lanes will close beginning with a single lane at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a full closure at 9 p.m., lasting through Monday morning. Northbound lanes will remain open during this period.

Motorists traveling southbound will be detoured at the Valmont Road exit, west to 30th Street, then south to Pearl Street before rejoining CO 157 via the southbound on-ramp. Travelers heading west or east on Valmont Road toward southbound CO 157 will also follow designated detour routes involving either 30th Street or rerouting via 47th Street and Pearl Street. Additionally, from Saturday evening through Sunday evening, the Pearl Street on-ramp to northbound CO 157 will be closed with alternate routes provided.

Drivers should expect delays of up to fifteen minutes in the affected area and are encouraged to use alternate routes over the weekend. Flaggers and uniformed traffic control officers will be present to assist with traffic flow. Motorists are advised to slow down near construction zones, watch for workers and equipment, avoid unnecessary lane changes, refrain from using mobile devices while driving in work zones, turn on headlights for visibility, especially at night, allow ample space between vehicles, anticipate lane shifts when directed by signage or personnel, and exercise patience throughout construction periods.

Additional information about real-time closures can be found at COTrip.org or by downloading the COtrip Planner app for mobile devices. The department notes that another maintenance project affecting northbound CO 157 is scheduled over the next two to three weeks with anticipated single-lane closures between Valmont Road and Colorado Highway 119.

Travelers are urged by officials to “know before you go” by checking weather forecasts as well as current road conditions prior to travel.
