University of Delaware women’s lacrosse senior Morgan Gore was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, according to an April 27 announcement from the league office. The award, determined by votes from academic advisors and sports information directors who could not vote for their own athletes, recognizes top student-athletes for both academic and athletic achievement. Six members of the Fightin’ Blue Hens team, including Gore, were also recognized with Academic All-ASUN honors.
The recognition highlights both individual and team accomplishments in academics during Delaware’s first season in the conference. To qualify for Academic All-ASUN status, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, participate in at least half of their team’s games during the season, complete four semesters or be halfway through their degree program, and have spent one year at their institution.
Gore is set to graduate this spring with a finance degree and holds a 3.98 cumulative GPA. She has been on the Dean’s List seven times and was previously honored on the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll six times. This season she is second on her team with 31 goals over 15 games and recently reached her 100th career point for Delaware.
Other honorees include Kat Baseggio (3.79 GPA), Maggie Farragher (3.87 GPA), Jaclyn Marszal (3.92 GPA), Steph Marszal (3.72 GPA), and Riley Sturtevant (3.75 GPA). Each athlete has received multiple academic distinctions while contributing significantly to Delaware’s performance this season across defense, scoring, or goalkeeping roles.
Delaware won the ASUN Regular Season Championship with an undefeated record in conference play and will compete as top seed in Jacksonville for this week’s ASUN Championship semifinals.
