City of Delaware issued the following announcement on Oct. 10
Second Ward Community Initiative President Harry Hart did the unveiling honors Wednesday when a section of London Road was designated, "Elmer W.B. Curry Way." Mr. Curry was born in Delaware in 1871 on South Street, now London Road. He graduated in 1889 from Delaware High School, attended Ohio Wesleyan and was the first African-American to teach in Delaware City Schools. He went on to start the Curry Institute in Urbana.
