UNICRI announced on Apr. 18 a call for expressions of interest from private sector organizations to participate in the European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (EU CBRN CoE) Initiative.
The invitation seeks to strengthen global capacities for preventing, detecting, and responding to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear risks by engaging industry stakeholders. The EU CBRN CoE Initiative is funded by the European Union and supports more than 60 partner countries through capacity-building efforts such as training, policy development, and technical cooperation.
According to UNICRI, the initiative recognizes “the important role of industry in innovation, technology development and operational expertise” and aims “to enhance dialogue and collaboration with relevant private sector stakeholders.” The current call is designed to identify companies interested in contributing their expertise via technical exchanges, consultations, awareness-raising activities or potential cooperation projects with the initiative’s network.
Private sector participants are offered opportunities including increased visibility within international CBRN networks and engagement with government counterparts across more than 60 countries. However, UNICRI clarifies that participation does not constitute a procurement process nor imply any contractual relationship.
Interested organizations must submit their expression of interest by completing a registration form before May 8. Submissions will be reviewed based on relevance to the initiative’s objectives as well as demonstrated expertise. Additional criteria include operational capacity for proposed contributions and willingness to engage in collaborative partnerships.
UNICRI said it may contact applicants after registration to discuss possible collaborations: “We look forward to engaging with partners committed to advancing innovative and sustainable solutions for CBRN risk mitigation.”
