ZTE and XLSMART launch innovation center in Jakarta to support 5G-Advanced and AI

ZTE Corporation and XLSMART announced on April 28 the official launch of a joint Innovation Center in Jakarta, Indonesia, aimed at supporting the development of 5G-Advanced and artificial intelligence technologies in the country.

The new center is intended to provide a practical test environment for real-world use cases and business models involving advanced telecommunications technology. Its goal is to strengthen network capabilities while promoting collaboration among industry players, academia, and ecosystem partners.

The facility is located at ZTE Indonesia’s office in The East Building, Kuningan, South Jakarta. It will serve as an inclusive platform for testing technology solutions relevant to Indonesian market needs. The launch event was attended by senior government officials and industry representatives including Nezar Patria, Vice Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs of Indonesia; Wang Lutong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Indonesia; Franky Oesman Widjaja, Chairman of Sinarmas Telecommunication & Technology; James Zhang, Senior Vice President of ZTE; Sun Shangbin, Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia; Zhang Ming, Director of HSR KCIC; as well as members from XLSMART’s management team.

The Innovation Center will focus on several key areas: AI-driven network optimization for smarter infrastructure; exploring ultra-reliable low-latency connectivity with 5G-Advanced capabilities; developing sustainable infrastructure solutions that are energy-efficient; and conducting strategic research into future technologies for Indonesia’s connectivity roadmap.
