City of Dover issued the following announcement on Sept. 19.
The City of Dover Department of Public Works utilizes herbicides as part of its grounds maintenance practices. The herbicides include Roundup which is utilized to kill existing weeds and Surflan which is utilized to kill weed seeds. Roundup is clear while Surflan is orange in color. It may appear as though the Surflan has left a stain but the color will dissipate.
Herbicides are used between March and October every year and are applied as directed in an approved manner. It is not harmful to people, pets or the environment.
