Intern Delaware is setting out on its goal of combining local companies with in-state college students and graduates.
The company, formed in September by local business leaders and with 21 companies involved, will connect interns from Delaware schools with openings at companies such as Agilent, Capital One, Christiana Care, DuPont, M&T Bank and White Dog Labs.
More than 70 percent of college graduates in Delaware move out of state for their first job after graduation according to Intern Delaware. Stopping or slowing the “brain drain” should be a benefit to individual students and businesses and organizations in the state.
Approximately 350 interns will work at the 21 corporate partners initially, co-founder and board chairperson of Intern Delaware, Scott Malfitano, told Delaware Business Now.
“These interns will be provided access to signature events, discounts to local merchants, and opportunities to take part in a dynamic summer program designed to open their eyes to all that Delaware has to offer,” Malfitano said.
