Name That Plow Winners | DelDOT
After the first significant snowfall in nearly two years, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced the winners of its annual "Name That Plow" contest. This event encourages elementary school students across Delaware to submit creative names for snowplows, highlighting their imagination and appreciation for DelDOT's snow removal teams.
The 2025 winners are: "Blizzard Wizard" from John M. Clayton Elementary in Sussex County, "Plowana" from Fairview Elementary in Kent County, and "Ctrl Salt Delete" from Jennie Smith Elementary in New Castle County.
This marks the fourth year of the contest, which aims to engage K-5 students in recognizing the efforts of DelDOT's snow removal crews who work to ensure safer roads during winter storms. Shanté Hastings, Secretary of the Delaware Department of Transportation, expressed her enthusiasm: "We love seeing the creativity of Delaware's young minds in this contest! Our snowplows and employees have been busy this January with back-to-back storms, and these clever names are a great way to honor their hard work and dedication to keeping our roads clear and safe."
DelDOT manages over 400 pieces of snow removal equipment statewide and is responsible for treating and plowing nearly 14,000 lane miles of roadway. More information can be found on DelDOT's Snow FAQ webpage. Additionally, DelDOT provides a snowplow tracker during winter storm events on deldot.gov and through its mobile app.
Congratulations are extended to all participating students and especially to those whose submissions were selected as winners.
