The Delaware Forest Service has announced the opening of its annual Arbor Day Poster Contest for 2025. The contest is open to all K-5 public, private, homeschool, after-school, and other organized youth groups in Delaware. It aims to increase appreciation and awareness of the role trees play in communities and ecosystems.

This year's theme is "Trees are Terrific…and Color Our World!" highlighting the beauty and diversity of trees. Participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from various tree species that change with the seasons. Posters will be judged on originality, use of theme, neatness, and artistic expression.

Each winner will receive a gift card, a tree-themed book, and a tree planting at their school. Twelve winners will be selected across four grade categories: kindergarten, grades 1-2, grades 3-4, and grade 5. All participating classes will receive free loblolly pine seedlings.

Teachers can register their classes using a Google Form available online. The deadline for registration is March 7, with entries due by March 21. Winners will be invited to the Statewide Arbor Day Celebration at Blackbird State Forest in Smyrna on May 2.

For more information about the contest or to download the flyer, interested parties can contact (302) 698-4551 or email ashley.melvin@delaware.gov.
